A MAN was freed from his car following a two-vehicle crash in Newport this evening (Sunday).

Emergency services were called to attend the incident at St Mary's Roundabout.

The Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 5.41pm, with two crews from Newport attending the scene.

A spokesperson for the fire service said: "Two cars collided this evening, with one male casualty extricated from his vehicle having become medically trapped rather than physically trapped."

The driver was left in the care of the ambulance service.

Buses were unable to serve Hunnyhill until the scene was clear.
