ISLE of Wight police have announced a man from Sandown was found safe and well this afternoon (Sunday), after a missing persons appeal was issued last night.

Neil Horner, 43, was staying somewhere other than his home address on the Island and was unaware of the concerns for his welfare.

Isle of Wight Police said: "We're pleased to say that Isle of Wight man Neil Horner from Sandown, who was reported missing, has been located. He was found safe and well this afternoon staying elsewhere on the Island.

"If you shared our appeal and kept an eye out for Neil then thank you."

Coastguard rescue teams from Ventnor and Bembridge had earlier today conducted a search of the area around Culver Down, accompanied by the Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat.
