THE TRADITIONAL Medina Tattoo fundraised for WightAid — and is hoping to have raised more than £1,000.

The event, at Medina Theatre on Sunday, November 3, was in its eight year.

Organised by Dr Kieron Cooney, the pipes and drums from Hampshire Caledonian and Rose and Thistle pipe bands came over from the mainland to join the Island's Medina Marching Band to play to a packed audience.

Dancers from White Rose Scottish Dancers and Bloodstone Border Morris joined the bands The Crew and Dr Cooney's band Wight Hot Pipes.

The finale was a rendition from the Greatest Showman, This Is Me. On lead vocals was Tori Blain of Wight Hot Pipes, joined on stage by the young people from South Wight Youth Theatre.

Compere was Matt Black, the Piano Man from Bournemouth, who entertained the audience with his piano playing skills.

Karen Eeles, fundraising manager at WightAid, said: "We are very grateful for the support of the Medina Tattoo.

"All the musicians and artists gave their time for free, and Dr Cooney works hard to make this event happen.

"We at WightAid are very proud to be the charity this year, and we will ensure all the money raised will be donated to Island charities."
