A YEAR on from a devastating fire, the Isle of Wight Pet Centre is holding a party to thank all those who helped in the aftermath.
Tomorrow (Saturday) the centre will be offering discounts to customers during the day and hosting a party with dancing and live music in the evening.
Almost 100 pets were lost in the blaze at the centre, in Watergate Road, Newport, including Brolly, the much-loved talking cockatoo.
The centre is owned and run by Paul Collins, who is still building up livestock numbers after re-opening earlier this year.
He said: “Other than cats and dogs, you name a pet and we sell it. We just have a smaller number at the moment.”
There are bunnies, guinea pigs, reptiles, many different species of birds, tropical fish and around 2,000 cold water varieties.
