MALEFICENT the Evil Queen used her dark magic powers to make for a scary Halloween children's party at the Crown Inn, Shorwell, on Friday.

The pub stepped in to organise the party because local children were off school for half-term.

Acting assistant manager, Ikogoli Onah, said: "We heard that there was nothing going on for the local children and how disappointed they were, so we decided to host our own party.

"We weren't too sure how it would go, but the pub was packed and all the tables were full — it was great fun.

"Lots of children brought their own carved pumpkins and Maleficent was the judge who picked the winning entry.

"As well as that, we had a 'mummy run' where people were spun around and wrapped up in toilet paper for racing, and that was really funny.

"And we had a treasure hunt with hidden clues all around the pub for the children to find and win a prize.

"There was also a DJ who played lots of party music for other games so it was a fabulous few hours."
