THE Isle of Wight’s Melodic Choir is set to invoke the spirit of Eurovision-winning Swedish pop quartet ABBA, performing songs from award-winning film Mamma Mia.

The Apollo Theatre in Newport will provide the setting for the catchy riffs and toe-tapping harmonies, with money being raised in aid of the Wight Brainy Bunch, a charity which supports Isle of Wight families affected by brain tumours.

Seminal hits such as title track Mamma Mia, Dancing Queen, Voulez-Vous, Super Trooper and Money, Money, Money will be performed under new arrangements by the choir, with the audience encouraged to embellish with their own accompaniment.

An evening performance will take place on Saturday, November 9, at 7.30pm, with a matinee the following day at 2.30pm.

Kay De’Lacy, Melodic Choir leader, said: “The choir is delighted to be raising funds for the charity Wight Brainy Bunch at our November concerts this year.

"This wonderful charity supports so many people on the Island who have been affected by any type of brain trauma, therefore we are really pleased to help”.

"All Melodic Choir performances support Island charities and during the past five years we have raised more than £7,000."
