SANDOWN Carnival organisers have announced that this year’s November celebrations, scheduled for today (Saturday), have been cancelled due to ongoing adverse weather conditions.

The IW Met Service issued an Amber warning for the weekend, with wind speeds of more than 80mph causing safety concerns for prospective attendees of the family focused event, which was due to be the culmination of the carnival's 130th anniversary year.

An update on the official Sandown Carnival Facebook page said: “Unfortunately this event is now cancelled due to Saturday’s various weather warnings.

“We do hope to reschedule the fireworks at a later date, but this will be announced in due course.”
