THE Into Film Festival returns to the Isle of Wight this month — offering students the chance to see great films for free.

The seventh annual festival will feature eight screenings at Cineworld in Newport, between November 6 and 22, with a variety of films for primary and secondary school students.

This year's programme includes On the Basis of Sex, The Grinch, Blinded by the Light and Johnny English Strikes Again.

More than 3,000 film screenings and 200 special events, such as talks, will take place throughout the UK, making the festival one of the world’s largest free film galas and providing teachers with themes and topics to use in the classroom.

Luminaries including Sir Kenneth Branagh, Rhys Ifans and Katie Leung have supported the festival by choosing this year's films.

Themes include mental wellbeing and identity, language and creativity, the natural world, exploring history, debate, fantasy and adventure, rebellion and musicals.

Into Film is supported by Cinema First and the British Film Institute through National Lottery funding, and backed by the UK film industry.
