THE Royal Hotel in Ventnor has set its sights on a green future — by providing six electric car charging points.

The hotel has several environmentally-friendly initiatives on the horizon, to minimise its carbon footprint, and support the Island’s farmers, wildlife, and landscape.

The most recent investment is the electric car charging facilities.

The Royal Hotel believes it is now the only destination on the Island that has six charging points in one location.

The recent appointment as a gold member of Visit Isle of Wight’s Green Star scheme shows The Royal’s commitment to the environment.

Hotel owner William Bailey said: "As a business, we are doing our best to reduce our carbon footprint, while maintaining the luxurious experience that our guests expect from a stay at The Royal.

"We have introduced several eco-friendly initiatives, including working towards phasing out single-use plastics, and installing charging points for electric vehicles.

"We also plan to introduce beehives in early 2020, and are planting a wildflower meadow to support the local eco-system.”

Nick Wheeler, of EV Connextions, said: "We were delighted to install six electric vehicle fast-charging points at The Royal Hotel.

"This gives the opportunity for visitors to charge their vehicle while relaxing in beautiful surroundings at the hotel."
