THE Vectis Historic Vehicle Club (VHVC) has presented £800 to Isle of Wight children’s charity Beaulieu Respite.

The money was raised at the club's annual car show at Arreton Barns in June.

Peter Hodgson, of the VHVC, said: “The club recognises the difficulties in looking after a child and teenagers with challenging health issues, with parents often assuming the role of 24-hour carers.

“The charity’s work enables them to share the responsibility for a few days, allowing a break for parents and time for other siblings.”

Tony Wake, chairman of Beaulieu Respite, said: "This is yet another fantastic contribution from the VHVC.

"Without such kind donations we would not be able to run our charity. We not only pay for trips, toys and specialised equipment, but have a lot of doing it fun as well.

"This money will go directly towards the children's Christmas party."
