THERE was Hollywood glamour and red carpet elegance at the popular party night, DECADeANCE, on Saturday.

Guests rocked up to Cowes Yacht Haven for the themed 'night at the Oscars' — drinking, dancing, and raising money for Mountbatten.

Like any DECADeANCE event, guests were encouraged to dress up as decadently as possible — and more than 600 revellers did.

The night began as extravagantly as one might expect, with members of the IW Garrison — stormtroopers, Chewbacca and Vader — greeting guests at the entrance and beckoning them inside.

There were people impersonating their icons, from Rodger and Jessica Rabbit to Calamity Jane, Marilyn Monroe and Batman.

"A lot of effort went into the fancy dress," said organiser, Tony Martin.

"The idea is to dress as decadently as you dare.

"The dance floor was packed — we had DJs, a fun casino, photo booth, make-up artists, confetti and pyrotechnics, and all kinds of refreshments.

"We had outside catering in Cowes American Food Bar and Isle of Thai, offering a range of delicacies , and themed cocktails at the bar such as the Monroe.

"Despite running it a lot earlier in the year than usual, it was a really successful night — much the same as any other DECADeANCE event."

DECADeANCE started out as a one-off party to celebrate organiser, Tony Martin, DJ-ing for 30 years.

Now in its 11th year, the event has raised more than £70,000 for charity.
