JUNIOR reinforcements were called up to help at Freshwater Fire Station's charity car wash, following an emergency on Saturday.

Six firefighters had to drop their sponges and head to Wilmingham Lane, Freshwater, to help lift a horse that had fallen over and could not get back up.

However, Yarmouth firefighters were drafted in to cover the car wash, along with several children who helped scrub and rinse the dirty vehicles at the Rapanui car park, Freshwater.

The event raised £353 for the Fire Fighters Charity.

The Freshwater Co-op store provided refreshments for the firefighters.

Unfortunately, the 35-year-old male horse had to be put down.
