Emergency gas repairs has forced a road in Shanklin to be closed.
Hatherton Road from its junction with Brook Road, is closed for just five metres.
However, the Isle of Wight Council has temporarily revoked the one-way restriction in adjacent Western Road, to allow traffic to flow.
It said: "The revocation is necessary to allow access to residences and businesses while the emergency gas works are carried out."
A diversion will affect Victoria Avenue, High Street, Regent Street and Collingwood Road.
Reasonable facilities will be provided to allow access to adjacent premises.
