AN ALCOHOLIC who found himself banned from the Noodle Pot takeaway last year has been banned again by magistrates.

Christopher Allen, 47, pleaded guilty to two counts of threatening communications after he became abusive to staff at the Noodle Pot on St James' Street, Newport.

At the IW Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, prosecutor Ann Smout said: "On August 27, in the early evening, Mr Allen entered the shop and began shouting and demanding to be served."

Allen shouted at the staff: "Noodles, cook me noodles, noodles, cook me noodles now."

Mrs Smout added: "When he was asked if he had any money he took his wallet out of his pocket and slammed it down onto the counter.

"He was in the Noodle Pot shouting at staff for at least 20 minutes before he was removed."

"As a member of staff led him out of the building he was heard telling them he was going to get them."

Allen, of Mayfield Drive, Newport, had previously been subject to a one year restraining order banning him from entering the Noodle Pot due, but the court heard the restraining order had just expired at the time of his visit.

Allen's defence, Barry Arnett said: "He presents quite a dilemma to the courts as he is a quite serious long-term alcoholic.

"Throughout everything, he had been supported by his parents, but shortly before that incident both his mum and his dad passed away.

"I have seen the CCTV in relation to incident and it is obvious that whatever he was saying it was intended to provoke people.

"He has been an alcoholic since he was 15, he's had a rough go of it and deep down he wants to change his ways."

Magistrates gave him a 15-month restraining order from the Noodle Pot, and a one-month curfew from 8am until 8pm.

He was also ordered to pay court costs of £200 and a surcharge of £90.
