HEROES Comic Shop in Scarrots Lane, Newport will be hosting a comic book signing on Saturday, September 28.

Isle of Wight residents, Glenn Fabry and Karen Holloway, will be signing copies of long running publication 2000AD, having collaborated on the cover and one of the five strips inside the latest issue.

2000 AD is a weekly British science fiction oriented comic magazine. As a comic anthology it serialises stories — known as ‘progs’ — in each issue, having first been published in 1977.

Rob Mead, manager at Heroes, said: “All of us at Heroes are proud to be hosting a 2000AD signing, being long-time fans of the 'Galaxies Greatest Comic', this really is a dream come true.

“Bringing the Island comic community together is one of our goals, and events like this helps people meet their heroes.

“Having not one but two artists sign at the shop at the same time is amazing, this is now our third comic signing in the past twelve months, with hopefully many more to come in the future.”

Glenn Fabry, a British comic artist recognised for his detailed, realistic work in both ink and painted colour, has been a professional artist for 34 years. He is best known for drawing Judge Dredd, Preacher for Vertigo and Slaine for 2000AD.

This will be the first published work for Karen Holloway, who is currently doing a fine arts degree with the Open College of Arts, with more in the pipeline.

To meet the artists on Saturday, visit Heroes at Scarrots Lane, Newport, between 10.30am and 5pm.
