ONE of the Island's most seasoned and respected writers, showbiz expert John Hannam, has released his fourth book — More Wight Connections.

When John completed his third book, The Wight Connections, it quickly went to reprint.

Featuring 120 chapters on local characters, famous people born on the Island, and those with a strong Island connection, John decided to increase his planned trilogy of books to encompass a fourth — a tetralogy.

As the fourth instalment in The John Hannam Interviews series, More Wight Connections details another 100 names John felt deserved to be in print.

John also had the idea to utilise many of his personal archive of photos of past Island groups and entertainers, keen to pay tribute to those who were a part of Island life when he was writing his Stage Talk page in the Isle of Wight Weekly Post.

There are more than 60 published in his new book, set to go on sale on Friday, October 4, including pictures of groups like Bobby I Can Fly, and entertainers such as Jerry Cahill, Guy Reed and Fiona Groves.

John has interviewed more than 5,000 people throughout his career as a freelance journalist and broadcaster.

Among his star studded list of interviewees has been a number of British treasures, including Dame Judi Dench, Dame Vera Lynn, Sir John Mills, Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Ken Dodd and Sir Bruce Forsyth.

John will be undertaking numerous book signings up until Christmas, including at the County Press, Newport, on Friday, October 4, and at Glyn Morgan's, Shanklin, on Saturday, October 5.
