THE Isle of Wight Met Service has issued a yellow weather warning for tonight (Saturday) ahead of heavy showers.

The service has warned heavy rain will fall from 9pm to around 2pm tomorrow (Sunday) afternoon.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Met Service said: "Heavy showers will develop overnight which could bring up to 10mm of rainfall locally, followed by more persistent rainfall tomorrow morning in which a further 15-20mm of rain could fall.

"Localised flooding is possible, especially after such a prolonged dry period which has left the ground very hard and dry, this means that rainwater takes much longer to be absorbed."
