A REPORT detailing plans to open Appley Tower to the public is set to be released this month — and Isle of Wight residents have been asked to share their views.

Natural Enterprise will be open the tower tomorrow (Friday) and on Sunday, giving people a chance to pop in and talk about future plans for the Ryde seafront landmark.

Graham Biss, managing director of Natural Enterprise, said:"The purpose of the work undertaken was to find out the cost to bring the tower into a good state of repair and to explore how it could be made more available to the community in a sustainable way.

"Building on the feedback received from the initial public consultations, we are now keen to receive feedback on the draft proposal before the final report is completed."

Ryde Cllr Michael Lilley said: "It is vital Appley Tower remains in community ownership. It is a valued community asset and I would encourage everyone to support this project.

"The next challenge will be to raise the funds to carry out the work.”

The report will be available to view tomorrow, from 4pm to 6.30pm, and on Sunday, 10am to noon.
