THE Saturday Rock School is back — offering potential young rockstars the opportunity to get creative.

Platform One College of Music offers opportunities for instrumental and vocal development, rehearsals and performance skills for young people aged 12 to 16 years old.

Students need to be able to sing or play guitar, bass and drums, and there are various groups of differing abilities.

The tutors, all graduates of Platform One’s commercial music degree — which runs in partnership with the University of Chichester — aspire to become role models to the pupils, utilising their depth of industry experience.

Director David Pontin said: “The Saturday programme offers a brilliant and fun opportunity to develop self-confidence, communication skills, self-esteem, team work and musical creativity.”

Students are given weekly specialist instrumental lessons and are put into bands to develop a diverse repertoire of musical skills.

At the end of each block, students perform in a professional music venue to a public audience.

Each session is two hours long, costing £120 for 15 weeks. There are two 15-week programmes each academic year.

Students will need to bring their own guitar, bass, drumsticks and tuners, with everything else provided.

A new programme starts with induction sessions on Saturday, September 21.
