RED Funnel has announced a series of cancellations for Red Jet sailings tomorrow.

It follows some difficult days for the service, which has seen several cancellations due to a technical issue — and passengers have been advised to take the car ferry.

Red Funnel said today the 8.15am and 9.15am from Southampton and the 8.45am and 9.45am from Cowes tomorrow morning (September 18) are cancelled due to ongoing technical issues.

Similarly, the 6.15pm and 7.15pm from Southampton and 6.45am and 7.45am from Cowes tomorrow evening (September 18) are also cancelled.

The problem relates to an exhaust bellow which makes up an essential part of the engine exhaust system on Red Jet 7.

Red Jet 6 is running on three engines instead of four, resulting in a longer crossing time, and staff are waiting on a bespoke part.

Red Jet 4 is out of service for annual maintenance.

Red Funnel said: "We would once again wish to apologise to everyone sailing with us for the inconvenience this unexpected situation has caused.

"We feel your frustration. Our teams on the ground are working really hard to get everyone where they need to be and we will keep you posted."
