LABRADORS, Labradoodles, greyhounds and gundogs all descended on to the Isle of Wight Dog Festival at Robin Hill.

Dogs of all breeds and class took part, and rosettes were awarded for scurry runs, obedience and training trials.

Host of this year's show, Alex Watts, said: "Conservatively I want to say we saw about 1,200 to 1,300 owners with their dogs turn up this year, it was a really good year.

"I was on a mission to find myself a Shiba Inu, these lovely Japanese dogs, we even offered free entry to anyone who turned up with one on the condition I got to meet it."

He didn't hear of any in attendance.

He said: "The highlight this year was the fact that the event found a really good venue in Robin Hill.

"It's just a great day and an excuse for the community to bring their dogs to a fun day on the green, getting involved with everyone.

"There was none of that seriousness you get at something like Crufts.

"This was just a good fun day for everyone and dogs especially."
