BARRETT Homes has stepped in to help make Wessex Cancer Trust’s new support centre as homely as possible.

The centre in Newport is nearing completion, and Barratt Homes has provided new furniture.

Sales director Michelle Storer said: "We were contacted by Wessex Cancer Trust to see if we could help by donating some furniture from show homes at our Isle of Wight developments, and we were only too happy to oblige.

“Our aim is not only to help build new communities, but to become part of them, and that means showing our support to local charities, schools and other organisations.

"This is an incredibly worthy cause, and I hope this furniture will go some way to making visits more comfortable for patients and their families.”

Residents affected by cancer can access professional and confidential counselling, befriending and complementary therapies at the support centre.

Located in the heart of the community, the centre offers an oasis of calm and support to people who are coping with a difficult time in their lives.

Colette Cowan, head of service delivery at Wessex Cancer Trust, said: “Our Isle of Wight support centre is undergoing a complete refurbishment and I'm confident the amazing support it gives to those impacted by a cancer diagnosis will be enhanced by our beautiful, new centre.

“Thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of both our fundraising and centre team, the project is well on its way to being finished.

"We are thrilled to be rehoming some furniture from Barratt Homes and are extremely grateful for their ongoing support.”

Barratt Homes is backing Wessex Cancer Trust as its official charity of the year and has been undertaking a variety of fundraising challenges and events.
