INTERNET TV service netgem.tv has announced a partnership with Isle of Wight’s ultrafast fibre broadband provider, WightFibre, to launch its entertainment streaming service.

Launched last month, WightFibre and netgem.tv have been offering a broadband package consisting of fibre broadband, home phone and TV streaming service.

The companies have also launched a marketing campaign on the Isle of Wight to promote the package as 'the best entertainment on the Isle of Wight’s fastest internet.'

As reported, WightFibre has upgraded its network to deliver full fibre broadband all the way to people's homes, not just to the nearest street cabinet. The network will reach more than 60,000 out of the 70,000 homes on the Island by the end of 2020 with the aim of delivering unbeatable speeds of 900Mb — putting the Island at the forefront of the digital economy.

The netgem.tv service includes access to more than 50,000 hours of online streaming content, with multiscreen, recording, and Freeview Play functionalities, plus access to Amazon Prime for the first year.

Sylvain Thevenot, netgem.tv managing director, said: "We all want to watch high-quality TV with seamless connectivity, and with the rise of 'skinny bundles' with a low-entry cost and general 'pay as you go' approach, many broadband companies don’t supply premium content with their deals.

"We wanted to push a quality-first campaign to be on top of the great free on-demand TV offered through Freeview Play and with the fastest connectivity — so we made this a reality.”

WightFibre chief executive John Irvine said: "TV is a really important part of the offering in the UK marketing place where the end customer is now expecting to buy TV alongside their broadband, so being able to offer TV is extremely important. netgem.tv has a great value proposition, that brings next generation TV to our customers, that complements our Full Fibre rollout."
