AN EXCITING new experience has been launched on the Isle of Wight — paintball tank battles.

Based at Calbourne Water Mill, it involves visitors driving mini-tanks around a large field, with options to fire at static targets or — more enticingly — other combatants.

The tank battle experience has been launched by East Cowes entrepreneur Chris Aitken, who runs the business with Anne Brooks and John Carpenter.

Chris said: “I have always enjoyed the idea of owning large tanks — but as that is unrealistic, I have found an ideal solution.

"It will hopefully be something exciting and fun for Isle of Wight residents, as well as any visitors looking for a different experience.

“At Calbourne we have also found the ideal secluded backdrop for the tanks, and a fitting setting for the paintball sessions we offer.

“The team would like to place on record our thanks to the Mill for being such gracious hosts as we begin this exciting new journey.”

There are currently four 500cc tanks — with options available to fire at static targets or other combatants, or to simply go for a paint-free drive around the course.

Full camouflage clothing and head and face protection are supplied.
