POLICE and paramedics crews were called to Shanklin in the early hours of this morning (Wednesday).

Teams from the Isle of Wight Police were all sent to the Shanklin Esplanade shortly before 4am amid concerns for a man atop the cliff.

A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Police said: "We were called at 3.57am following a concern for welfare of a man at Shanklin Esplanade.

"The man was cared for by the ambulance service."

Rescue teams from the Bembridge Coastguard and the Ventnor Coastguard were also called to assist at the scene.
