From Hugh Harrison, Northwood:

It WAS a privilege to be at a protest meeting in St Thomas’ Square, Newport, on Saturday, where more than 200 people gathered to voice their concerns at the unprecedented prorogation of Parliament since 70 years at a time of national crisis.

During the Conservative leadership campaign, many senior ex-cabinet ministers voiced their opposition to the prorogation of Parliament in order to force a ‘No Deal Brexit.’

Barely a month later, has Mr Johnson taken this singularly undemocratic step to prevent a reasoned debate on what is the single most important decision since the war with Iraq, where Parliament ignored the views of more than two million people?

Surely it is in the interests of the British people as a whole, rather than a coterie of 140,000 Conservatives, to have their views heard through their elected representatives in Parliament?
