UP TO 40 competitors are set to take part in the 120th annual Isle of Wight Ploughing Match.

The competition — made up of seven classes, including young competitors, vintage ploughs and reversible ploughs — will take place on Saturday, September 21, at Manor Farm, Wellow.

There will also be tractor rides, refreshments and trade stands.

Stands on the day include Farm and General Insurance, NFU, The Leverets, C&O Tractors and Leslies Motor Group to name a few.

This year, there will be a raffle, with Island produce from Farmer Jacks, Oil of Wight and Calbourne Water Mill up for grabs, and various makes and models of tractors on display — from vintage and veteran to more modern vehicles.

The event supports a different charity each year and last year raised £1,000 for the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.

This year, proceeds will go to the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution and Prostate Cancer UK.
