A FRESHWATER youngster has had 15 inches of her hair cut off and donated it to children with cancer.

Maddison Gulliver, eight, gave her locks to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children who have lost their hair.

Mum Emma said: "Maddison saw a programme about the Little Princess Trust and afterwards said she wanted to donate her hair.

"I didn't want her to make a decision she might regret, but she didn't forget and a year later she asked me again.

"I'm a very proud mother, Maddison was so brave."

Maddison's hair was cut at Jojo's Hair and Beauty in Freshwater.

Maddison, who attends St Saviour's School, Totland, raised more than £150 for the charity through sponsorship.
