FRENCH Franks has opened a new warehouse style cafe on the Newport industrial estate.

The popular sandwich shop, which has branches in Newport town centre, Ryde and Cowes, has opened a new branch at St Cross Business Park.

French Franks Warehouse will offer eat-in and takeaway options to the surrounding businesses.

As well as the cafe area, the rear of the building is a central bakery and prep kitchen, which French Franks will use as a base for its corporate sandwich catering business.

Owner Mark Horton said: “We are excited with this development, which gives a lovely modern space, new markets and central location for some of our activities which have outgrown with the current shop base.

"We remain committed to Newport town centre and will be refreshing that site later in the year — however, many customers tell us they are not prepared to pay for short term parking for small purchase trips to the town centre and, for that reason, we have to diversify and offer parking out of town.”

The new cafe will have six full time staff members, most of whom will relocate from elsewhere in the business.

Mr Horton said a number of full and part-time positions would be created across the branches.

French Franks Warehouse will open next Tuesday, September 10.

The opening hours will be 8am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 2pm on Saturday.
