THE 20th Wolverton Manor Garden Fair is hoping for record receipts following a memorable weekend.

Thousands of people were entertained on Saturday and Sunday at the home of Jane and Mark Patterson in Shorwell, with Elizabethan dancing, live music, donkeys, alpacas and dog displays providing a variety of family fun.

The annual event usually raises between £18,000 and £22,000 for Age UK Isle of Wight and other charities.

Jane said: "It was a fabulous weekend. Visitors poured through the gates and it was just a great occasion.

"We don't know how much we have raised, but we will confirm that next month at our charity presentation.

"However, I can reveal we are hoping it will be a new record for the event."

The packed weekend saw Island and mainland nurseries selling all manner of plants and gardenalia, alongside craft stalls and classic car, bike, military vehicle and engine displays.

There was also kayaking around the moat and historical re-enactments.

Jane said: "Our Elizabethan re-enactors were wonderful. They are old family friends and come every year to perform Elizabethan dancing and host an apothecary's pavilion.

"There are around 20 of them and they stay in the house, or grounds, so it just makes for a marvellous weekend."
