MORRISONS in Newport has offered a free meeting area to community groups.

The supermarket said all groups — from parenting clubs and charities to crafters and gamers — were welcome to meet in its cafe rather than pay to hire a venue.

They can book tables for up to 20 people from 9am to 11am, and from 2pm to closing time, every weekday.

Helen Tordoff, head of cafes at Morrisons, said: “We’ve seen more groups use our cafe spaces as meet-up areas so we’re delighted to formalise the offering and make it even easier for local communities to come together over a cup of tea.”

To book a table, call the Newport store on 822419 and ask for the community champion.
