JO BRAND, one of the UK’s best-loved comedians, has joined the line-up for the Red Funnel Isle of Wight Literary Festival.

The star and writer of Getting On, the BBC’s BAFTA award-winning series, Brand will be speaking about her new book, Born Lippy: How to Do Female.

In addition to memorable anecdotes from her life and career, Brand will share jokes and funny stories that have been coloured by her experiences as a psychiatric nurse, stand-up comedian and working mother of two.

Brand, who co-wrote and starred in two series of the sitcom Damned for Channel 4 in addition to appearances on QI, Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Live at the Apollo, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Have I Got News for You and Would I Lie to You, will be one of more than 60 writers speaking at the festival this October.

Julia Dams, programme director, said: “Following her sell-out at the Oxford Literary Festival, we’re delighted to welcome Jo Brand to our 2019 festival.

"We can look forward to wit and wisdom in abundance from this wonderful raconteur. To avoid disappointment, you need to book early.”

Brand will appear on Sunday, October 13, at 1pm.

The festival is now in its 8th year, and will be held at Northwood House, Cowes.

Tickets can be purchased online at isleofwightliteraryfestival.com or on 07821 123661.
