COASTGUARD and lifeboat rescue teams were called to help four swimmers in trouble at Ryde beach this afternoon (Thursday).
Crews from the Bembridge and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, and Ryde Inshore Rescue, pulled the swimmers from the water after they were spotted by lifeguards.
A UK Coastguard spokesperson said: "We were called to concerns for four people in the water off Ryde beach at around 5.20pm after the lifeguards spotted them.
"The Bembridge and Ventnor coastguards responded and the casualties were safely brought to land.
"The swimmers were well enough that they decided to make their own way to the hospital."
