THREE scouts from the Isle of Wight took part in the World Scout Jamboree in the USA.

Adam Burt, of Cowes, Matthew Dyer, of Newport, and Charlotte Morgan, of Totland Bay, went to the Scout Skills Festival in West Virginia.

They were among 5,000 scouts from the UK joining 40,000 others taking part in the World Scout Jamboree, a skills and adventure festival involving scouts from nearly every country in the world.

The jamboree offers young people the chance to learn new skills they can use in other aspects of their life — and taste high adventure.

Adam, 14, and Matthew, 15, said they had an amazing time, enjoyed trying lots of new activities such as scuba diving, gaining new experiences and getting badges for all they did.

Charlotte, 14, enjoyed meeting lots of new people from around the world and making new friends in a relaxed environment.

She said: “I met some scouts from Scotland and we formed a little group to go round in.

"The first activity we all did together was climbing at the Boulder Cove, everyone after a bit of encouragement made it to the top.

"Everyone was hyped and in a great mood, it was so relaxed.

"Also there was always something going on so it was impossible to be bored.”
