ISLE of Wight Radio is celebrating being the most listened to radio station that broadcasts to the Island — including all national BBC stations and larger commercial stations.

According to official listening figures, Isle of Wight Radio now has more than 77,000 regular adult listeners, with more Islanders waking up to its flagship programme Topping in the Morning, with Paul, Hayley, Georgie and Jamie, than any other station.

They have seen thousands of new listeners tune in over the past few months.

The radio station has seen an eight per cent increase in audience listener numbers.

Paul Topping, programming director, said: “The team is delighted with the new figures and pleased that Islanders love listening to the Breakfast Show.

"To be honest, I am amazed that so many people love listening to us messing around and having fun in the morning, especially with so much radio competition.

"If you listen, thank you so much. If you don’t, we would love you to join the morning party.”

Claire John, managing director, said: “Isle of Wight Radio is coming up to its 30th year on air and with the media landscape changing so much over the past few years, the latest figures prove that we play a very strong part in the Island’s community.

"These results are testament to the fantastic presenters, news and sales team. Thank you so much for supporting us.”
