AFTER a disastrous day on Saturday when gale force winds meant the event couldn't go ahead at all — Jack Up the Summer eventually saw some sunshine when the wind dropped on Sunday.

Organisers battled throughout Saturday — the 80s day — to save the wind-battered stage and marquees but were unable to open the area to festival-goers.

Sunday was a different matter — the 90s day — and the scheduled line-up went ahead as planned. The new site at North Fairlee Farm welcomed thousands of ticket holders, including those who had purchased just Saturday ones but were invited to enjoy the Sunday instead.

Vote Pedro, Livin Joy and Phats and Small got the party started early on, with a big crowd dancing to the hit Turn Around.

Next up was Noasis, the Oasis tribute band, who played all the big hits, guaranteeing a singalong.

There was something for everyone, with Space satisfying those who like a bit of indie rock and a charismatic frontman.

Tommy Scott jumped into the crowd, climbed up the stage rigging and gave an enthusiastic performance of the hits Female of the Species, Neighbourhood and The Ballad of Tom Jones.

Those who prefer boy bands were delighted to see 911 bringing some smooth moves to the stage. They played all their hits, including the Shalamar cover Night to Remember.

Republica was up next and gave a smooth performance of their hits Drop Dead Gorgeous and Ready To Go.

Headlining was East 17, minus Brian Harvey these days.

The event closed with an hour-long set of tracks including Stay Another Day, House of Love and Hold My Body Tight.

Friday evening saw a Ska Wars opening party featuring Bad Manners and Ska'd For Life.
