A SKYDIVER jumped out of a plane to raise money for an animal charity — dressed as a cat.

Paul Harvey completed the 10,000ft jump for Feline Welfare, which looks after ‘un-homeable’ cats.

He said: "This experience was exhilarating and I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it was a bit nerve-racking.

"When I first thought about doing this, I had never even been in a plane. My first flight was only a few weeks ago."

Feline Welfare currently looks after for more than 40 Island cats, including strays and animals difficult to rehome.

Paul said: "We feel it's wrong to confine a cat for an extended length of time, we try very hard to offer them a homely environment while they are in our care.

"Sometimes the length of time they have to wait to catch someone's eye is endless.

"To have such a large number of cats is a great commitment and, as you can imagine, a great expense.

"We don’t skimp on food or the care lavished on them, but we do rely on the generosity of our supporters to enable us to provide for all our feline friends, whether they be waiting patiently for new homes or are living out their natural lives with us.

"We receive no government funding. We rely entirely on donations and proceeds from our fundraising stalls enabling us to carry out our work; rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming our feline friends as well as our all important neutering program."
