MORE THAN 150 people took part in the sixth annual Pier to Pier Charity Walk — a moonlit stroll between Shanklin and Sandown.

Walkers set out from the Steamer Inn at Shanklin Esplanade, at 9pm on Thursday evening, then walked to Sandown Pier and back again, notching up 4km and raising almost £1,000 for charity.

Organiser Karen Eeles said said: "We had a 154 people take part and it raised just under a £1,000 for Beaulieu Respite.

"The best thing about it is, while we had so many Islanders coming along, we also had holiday makers and people from the mainland taking part too.

"Everyone was given a little moonwalk medal, and really was a fantastic evening."

Following the walk a barbecue was held at the Steamer Inn.
