A SHOP which sells unique handmade pieces of artwork has relocated to Freshwater.

The Octopus Workshop, owned by Pippa White, was formerly known as Pip's Beach and based in East Cowes.

But the successful business needed to expand its premises to include a bigger workshop, as well as display space, and has moved to the former Natwest Bank building.

Pippa, who grew up in Shanklin, said: "We spent three-and-a-half years in East Cowes building up our clientele and making a lot of commission pieces, but we just outgrew our premises.

"This building fits the bill and we have spent the last four months doing it up.

"Originally, we start off doing beachy things using driftwood and sea glass but over the years we have developed.

"Now we make pieces of silver jewellery, using sea glass rather than precious stones, and we also make vintage and industrial pieces, many of them personalised.

"So, for example, we could use a voltmeter and turn it into a lamp and the same with a Victorian water pump.

"I think our best piece was a tractor grill which we made into a giant wall light."
