A COWES boatbuilder has launched a new firefighting vessel — capable of travelling at 32 knots and supplying 4,500 litres of water per minute.

Aluminium Marine Consultants (AMC), one of the country's leading manufacturers of fast aluminium vessels, was contracted to build the boat by Angloco Ltd.

It will be exported to Guyana, in South America.

The 14m 'FiFi' vessel has been designed and built to meet the risks and hazards of the modern-day marine firefighting, and will carry extensive firefighting and marine equipment.

Founded in 2007, AMC is one of the country's leading manufacturers of fast aluminium vessels.

It employs 35 staff at its Cowes yard and specialises in the build of aluminium alloy workboats. It has built 46 vessels for applications

including crew transfer, pilotage, rescue and recovery.
