A CAR club has raised £10,000 for two Isle of Wight children's charities.

The cash was raised at an annual summer camping and fundraising event, organised by the Isle of Wight branch of the TVR Car Club and held at Ninham Country Holidays.

The three-day event of fun and fundraising was attended by more than 70 TVR members from across the UK.

A charity auction featured autographed items for the music industry and motorsport, as well as car cleaning and maintenance products, while Island holiday homeowners and restaurants also made donations.

The money was split between the YMCA Young Carers and Ability Dogs 4 Young People.

Last year, the club supported the same two charities and raised enough to sponsor its own summer camp ability dog — which was named Trevor after the founder of TVR cars, Trevor Wilkinson.

Event organiser Clive Ford said: "This year, everyone at the camp got to meet Trevor, who is now a five-month-old chocolate Labrador who is just adorable.

"The £5,000 for ability dogs this year will go towards covering the cost of Trevor`s all important training.

"We would like to give special thanks to our sponsor, Wightlink Ferries, who are invaluable to our charity fundraising for Island children`s charities every year."
