TWO adults and a dog had to be rescued today (Monday) from Luccombe cliffs after they became stranded by the tide.

Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, the Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team and the Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team initially rushed to reports of a woman trapped on the cliffs at 3.52pm.

A spokesperson for the UK Coastguard said: "Sandown Independent Lifeboat and Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team with the Isle of Wight emergency services, were tasked to reports of two adults cut off by the tide and trapped on a cliff with a dog.

"Both adults and the dog were rescued by the lifeboat, and landed ashore where they received medical attention by paramedics from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service. There were no injuries."
