THE body of a woman has been found in the sea off the Isle of Wight this afternoon (Wednesday).
At 12.57pm, police were called to Tennyson Down following concerns for the welfare of a woman.
Officers attended the scene, and a short time later, the body of a woman in her 50s was recovered from the water.
A spokesperson for the police said: "Next of kin have been informed.
"At this stage the death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."
Needles and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Teams, Yarmouth RNLI lifeboat, Freshwater Independent Lifeboat, and HM Coastguard’s helicopter from Lee-on-Solent were also in attendance.
