FIREFIGHTERS were called to Ryde today (Tuesday) following reports of a tree falling on a camper van.

At 2.10pm, two fire engines from Ryde, and a single RSV from Newport was sent to Appley Park, Ryde.

Upon arrival, the tree debris had been removed by the public.

The two occupants trapped inside the vehicle were self-extricated, and in the care of the ambulance service.

The Isle of Wight Council have tweeted that no one was injured, and no cars were damaged.

Contractors have been called to clear the site.
