POLICE were called to Cowes late last night (Monday).

At around 11pm, police arrived at Fellows Road and seized dogs from a van and subsequently from a house.

In total, 65 dogs were seized and handed over to the RSPCA, where they remain at this time.

UPDATE 12.50pm:

A spokesperson for the RSPCA said: "We are so grateful to people who report suspected animal suffering to us and we would like to reassure people we will always look into and, if necessary, investigate any complaints made to us about animal welfare.

"We're unable to comment any further as we are unable to discuss ongoing enquiries about specific people and what action may have been taken.

"We understand how frustrating that is for animal lovers but releasing information could predudice a future investigation or could lead to us being fined."
