THE 67th annual Pier to Pier sea swim race across Sandown Bay will take place today (Saturday).

The event, which attracted 112 swimmers last year has, in recent times, seen a revival of the 1.8-mile swim to Shanklin, where its pier once stood — destroyed by the Great Storm of 1987.

A ‘wet suit’ class has been added to try to attract more entries to the usual costumed entry.

Entries are still welcomed from swimmers, with the entry form on the IW Marlins Swim Club website: www.iowmarlinsswimclub.co.uk

Starts from Sandown Pier at noon.
