FIREFIGHTERS were called to a property in Carisbrooke early this morning (Wednesday).

At around 1.24am, two fire engines from Newport and a single fire engine from Cowes arrived on the scene.

There were reports of a strong smell of burning, and smoke coming from one of the windows.

Firefighters gained entry through the rear door, and cooking was found to be left in the oven, but the fire was out on arrival.
