THE Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was called to East Cowes this morning (Friday), to reports of an incident involving a car rolling and becoming trapped under a tree.

A fire spokesperson said: "Newport firefighters attended East Cowes, receving a call at 6.50am, that a car had rolled down an embankment.

"The vehicle was wedged between the tree, but the person had managed to get themselves out."

One ambulance attended the scene, alongside other emergency services.

An Isle of Wight NHS spokesperson said: "One person was conveyed to St Mary's Hospital."
