A FAMILY FUN DAY held in Arreton raised just under £900 for charity as the packed event drew hundreds of people.

In aid of charity Challenge and Adventure and the Island's Special Care Baby Unit, the event played host to a variety of shows, attractions and stalls.

Karen Eeles, fundraising and events manager for Challenge and Adventure, said: "It worked so well, and we had only fabulous feedback."

Bands such as Dirty Little Secret, Workshy, Wight Hot Pipes and others all gave their time for free, as well as dance schools, Starlight Boutique and Matahari belly dancers.

Karen said: "It was amazing. It was free entry, and we only asked for donations. We had stalls, we had a barbecue, it was just a nice lovely relaxed atmosphere.

"The whole thing was organised by Jo Everson. I just want to say thank you to her because it was all her idea.

"She's a fanatical fundraiser, all the time she's doing cake sales or auctions, and one day she just said we should have a family fun day, and what a lovely day it was."

Challenge and Adventure works with disadvantaged and challenged young people to provide outdoor activities and support to children across the Island.
