THE countdown is on to this year’s Inflatable Rainbow Run — the biggest annual fundraiser for the Wessex Cancer Trust.

The 3km family colour run, featuring ten giant inflatables and five colour clouds, takes place at the Isle of Wight Airport, Sandown, on Sunday, July 28, and there are still a limited number of tickets available.

Last year’s debut event sold out, with 1,000 participants raising an incredible £40,000, and organisers are hoping this year’s event will be another sell-out success.

As well as four family-friendly fun waves, there is an opportunity for Island businesses to go head to head in the Corporate Cup, last year won by Morrisons in Newport.

This year, corporate teams will be vying for a unique trophy made by Alum Bay Glass at The Needles.

Wessex Cancer Trust’s community engagement manager, Lorraine White, said: “The success of last year’s debut event was phenomenal. The Isle of Wight has set the bar high and, this year, we’re hoping for more of the same.

“Come and walk, run or dance your way through the happiest 3km on the Isle of Wight while raising money for Islanders affected by cancer — it’s going to be another wonderful day.”

The event, which is this year sponsored by ARID Design and Management Consultants, will also feature live music, children’s entertainment, food vans and a licensed bar.
